Probing the atmosphere with infrasound
Our young colleague Pierre Letournel has developed a full chain of modelling of the infrasound propagation from microbaroms, the ocean source of acoustic waves, to the measurement station. This offers a new way to sound the atmosphere along the track of these waves. Pierre has assessed his complete model with observations. This will lay the foundations for data assimilation and inverse methods applied to the atmosphere.
